We've updated the way you interact with the accounting navigation to make the process of organizing your books even more clear, simple, and intuitive.
You will notice substantial speed improvements, more comprehensive reporting, and more intuitive bookkeeping. All this change was designed with you in mind to make your life easier, and to continue to support you as your business grows.
We’re here to help guide you through the changes to your account, beginning with navigating around the app.
Let's review the navigation menu:
Prior to this update, opening the Accounting tab would expand a menu allowing you to navigate to your Transactions, Chart of Accounts, Journal Transactions, and Starting Balance pages.
Now when you click on the Accounting tab, you’ll see only three menu options: Transactions, Reconciliation, and Chart of Accounts.
We’ve added the ability to create journal transactions straight from your Transactions tab. You no longer have to navigate to a separate page and have better visibility into all of your bookkeeping entries from one source.
To create a Journal Transaction:
- Open your Transactions page, found under the Accounting tab in the left menu
- Click the More button in the top-right of this page and select Add journal transaction
- Enter the transaction details, and Save. Your journal transaction will now appear in the transactions list view.
We’ve removed the preexisting Starting Balance page - essentially a long journal transaction - further streamlining your accounting processes. Starting balances can now be added directly to the Transactions page by following these steps.
You may also recall how Bank Reconciliation previously lived on the Transactions page. With this update, we’ve completely rebuilt the feature and given it its own page under the Accounting tab.
That's it! The rest of your business' basic navigation has remained unchanged. Feel free to take a look at the changes on each page, we're really excited about them and we hope you will be too!
