Payments setup for mobile

You can turn on payments in the Invoice app, so you can get paid even faster, on the go! We’ll walk through the process to get you started.

Please note that if you don't already have a Wave account, you will need to create you will need to create one before signing in in the mobile app. You can sign up here.

In the app, once you’ve logged in to your business, click More > Payments, and toggle Payments on. You can also choose to only turn on bank payments or credit card payments, depending on your business’s needs and your preferences.

You’ll be prompted to scan a piece of ID – this can be either a driver’s license, a passport, or another type of photo card, like a Permanent Residency card. The app will open your camera. Scan the front of the card and, when prompted, the back. Note: if you choose to scan a passport, you will only be prompted to scan the photo page.

Scanning your ID allows you to enter necessary information quickly, without having to key it into your phone. We think that’s pretty neat, but we know it’s your personal info. Don’t worry! Wave doesn’t see or store any images of your ID. Your data is processed securely by our third party provider who verifies your information and lets us know if it’s all good – or if there are any issues.

Once your ID is scanned successfully, you’ll be asked to enter a bit more information, like your business type and contact info, as well as banking information for where you want to receive your money.

Make sure to verify all the information pulled from your ID, like your full name, is correct! If it’s not, your request may be rejected and you’ll need to redo the process.

You will also have the opportunity to personalize what your customers see on their credit card statement after they've paid you.

Once the application is complete, you can check on its status by clicking on it in the app. When the application is approved, you’ll get a push notification from the app letting you know you’re all set!

After your account is fully active, you can expect your first payment to deposit to your specified bank account after 2 business days if it's a credit card, and 4 business days if it's a bank payment.
