How do I activate my payroll account?

This FAQ applies to Payroll by Wave in both Canada and the US.

You can activate your Wave Payroll account at any time. Here's how!

  1. Click Settings in the left hand menu, then select Billing under Payroll.
  2. Select Activate my payroll account.

That's it! You will be able to approve payroll runs and generate T4s.

What if you run payroll intermittently, for example, if you run your payroll in July but not again until October? No problem! You can put your account on hold in your Wave Payroll profile before July 31. Go back to the Billing page and select Deactivate Account. When this is all done your account will be marked as inactive and you will not be able to run payrolls or access your tax reports. When your account is inactive, you will not be charged for your Payroll account.

Payrolls you've already approved will still process accordingly.

Now your account will be inactive for the months of August and September. On October 1st, to reactivate your account, just click Billing under the Payroll tab.
