Wave makes it easy to let others help run and manage your payroll. You can give access to a trusted individual, an accountant, a bookkeeper, or a business partner, for example, by inviting them to be a Payroll Manager. This means that person will be able to access and make changes to the Payroll section of your Wave account.
How to invite a Payroll Manager to your business profile:
- Click on the Settings option in the left menu, then click Users under User Management.
- Select the Payroll Manager, enter the email address and information of the person you want to work with, and click Invite User.
If you would like the user to have access to your other accounting information, choose to add them as a Viewer or Editor, and toggle the Manage payroll option to ON. This will give accounting access to your Payroll Manager, all in the same invite. Admins also automatically have access to manage payroll.
- They will receive an email with an invitation to collaborate with you.
If the user is not a pre-existing Wave customer, they will receive instructions to create a password, so they can set up their own Wave account. The email address you sent the message to, and the new password will give them access to your payroll.
If the user already has a Wave account, they can log into Wave as usual, but will be able to see your payroll, as well as any other businesses connected to the Wave account. They can do this by switching between business profiles by clicking on the business name in the top left corner.
Remember that Payroll Manager access gives the user full access to your Payroll account, including onboarding the business to Payroll, adding employees, and running payroll.
Ending user access
If you would like to terminate your user's access, head to Settings > Users. Click Edit to the right of the user's name, then click on the trash can icon. You will be asked if you would like to remove the user. Click Remove user, and that user will no longer have access to your business's payroll.
