Frequently asked questions about signing up for Wave

Can I sign up with my Google account?

If you have a Google account you can use those credentials to create and access your Wave account.

Click Sign up with Google on You’ll be taken to Google to confirm that you'd like to use your Google sign in to access Wave. If you're not logged into Google, you'll be prompted to log into your account. Google will ask you to connect to This is the correct URL for Wave. You’ll then be asked to agree to let Wave know your identity. Accept to create your Wave account.

What happens if I delete my Google account?

If you close your Google account, you will be permanently locked out of your Wave account.

What access does Wave have to your Google information?

The only information Wave has access to is your email address. Wave will not access any other information connected with your Google account.

What do I need to sign up?

An email address, and a password that’s easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to guess. The email address is the primary means that Wave uses to identify you and give you access to your account, so make sure there are no typos.

What should I enter as my company name?

Your company name will appear at the top of the page when you’re logged into Wave, as well as on your reports and invoices. You can use your legal entity name, or the name you use with customers.

Why do you ask for my business type?

Selecting a business type allows Wave to set up your chart of accounts with relevant accounts for your business.

Which business type should I choose?

Choose the type that matches your business. If you don’t see a business type that matches yours exactly, pick the closest one, or choose Other. You can create custom accounts later on if you need to.

What countries does Wave support?

Wave is available for businesses in Canada and the United States. US territories are not supported.

Can I change my business country or currency?

Wave will auto-select a Business currency and Business country based on your location. If you want to edit this, click Change this, then select a different country and currency from the drop-down menus. Once you have completed the signup process, this cannot be changed.

What address should I use as my business address?

Enter the business address you want to show on invoices or reports.

I made a mistake, how do I start over?

If you make a mistake, you can start again without closing your Wave account. Archive your existing business, and then re-create your business to start again.
