United States

The price of your subscription will depend on whether or not you are doing business in a state in which Wave offers Automated Tax Payments and Filings. Payroll Tax Payments and Filings are offered in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. 

The price of a new payroll subscription in states where Tax Payments and Filings are available is:

  • $35 monthly base fee
  • $6 per active employee
  • $6 per contractor paid

The price of a new payroll subscription in all other states is:

  • $20 monthly base fee
  • $6 per active employee 
  • $6 per contractor paid 

What’s an active employee? An employee is considered active if they’re currently working for your business and are not on leave. If an employee goes on leave or no longer works for your business, make sure to update their employment status so you won’t be charged for the months they’re not working.

This includes direct deposit to your employees, W2/W3 Forms and 1099-MISC Form generation at year end as well as tax payment reminders.

If you are in one of the fourteen states where automated tax payments and filings are offered (Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia,  Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin) and wish to use Wave's self-service option instead, you will be able to opt out (should you choose to opt out, the full base fee of $35 will still apply). Wave charges sales tax as required based on the work address in your Wave account. Any tax charged will appear on your invoice. This includes applicable New York Sales and Use Tax in New York State.

Canada

The price of a new payroll subscription in Canada is:

  • $20 monthly base fee
  • $6 per active employee
  • $6 per contractor paid

This includes direct deposit to your employees, automatic remittances to the CRA, preparation of ROEs when you offboard an employee and T4 Form generation at year-end.
