Why did I receive an email from American Express about merchant services?

As a Wave Payments user, you received an email on March 10, 2020 from American Express stating that your merchant services with them have been activated. This was an automated email sent out due to an infrastructure upgrade behind the scenes.

Every business who uses, or has used, Wave Invoicing and accepts payments through Wave Payments can accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express cards as a form of payment on their invoices. When we set up your Wave Payments account to accept American Express cards we need to inform American Express as part of the account creation process.

We recently made changes with American Express in how we process on their platform and upgraded to a platform called OptBlue. As a result of this migration to the platform, an automated email was triggered from American Express about a “new” account (pictured below). Because this is only an update to the underlying platform on which Wave processes American Express transactions, this doesn’t affect your Wave Payments account.

As always your customers can continue to choose which payment method they prefer to pay your invoices with. With Wave Payments you can accept any card which has the Visa, Mastercard, or American Express logo, in addition to Bank Payments (ACH/EFT).

There is no action required on your part.
