A new hire report is a submission of information to a US state about a new or rehired employee in that state. New hire reports are not required for independent contractors.
When your payroll subscription is fully active, Wave sends new hire reports to the appropriate state agencies on your behalf. Wave submits new hire reports when you hire an employee and enter their information into Wave, or when you reinstate an existing employee.
New hire reports can only be sent if the date of hire is less than 30 days from the date you enter your employee’s information into Wave. If you are reinstating an employee, a new hire report can only be issued if at least 60 days have passed since their termination.
