Wave is unable to pay or file on behalf of household employers or employers using Schedule H, Form 1040.

Authorize tax payments and filings

Before setting up payments and filings with Wave, you will need to complete your payroll setup.

1. On the left-side menu, click Payroll > Payroll Dashboard.
2. Under Simplify your payroll, to the right of Get automatic tax filings and payments, click Authorize.
3. Click each document, review the information, then click Sign and Submit. Repeat for each required document.

Once submitted, your tax service application will be reviewed. You may receive an email from Wave at the email address you used to sign up for Wave requesting additional documents required to authorize tax services.

Ensure Form W-4 information is updated on the employee's Tax Details page.

Next steps once your tax service application is approved

Review your payroll history and tax amounts due before payments are made to ensure they're accurate.

To review your payroll history:

1. At the top right corner, click your business name, then Business Settings.
2. In the Settings menu, under Payroll, click Payroll History Import.

If you authorize tax service in the middle of a quarter, you will receive an email notifying you of an upcoming payment for taxes due earlier in the quarter. If you have already made these payments, reach out to our Support Team. Open Mave, Wave’s automated chatbot, and type human support payroll tax payments and provide information on the taxes already paid.

You are responsible for ensuring funds are available when tax payments are due and for reviewing and signing tax forms when they become available in your Wave account.
You can enroll with the U.S. Treasury Department's Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) and with your state’s online account(s) to check the status of payroll tax payments. Find out how to enroll with EFTPS.
