Ending tax service with Wave in January, April, July & October

Quarterly forms and payments are completed the month following the end of each quarter. For example, Quarter 1 forms (for payrolls with paydays in January, February and March) are due in April. Quarter 2 forms (for payrolls with paydays in April, May and June) are due in July.

To make sure your quarterly forms and payments are completed by Wave, you will need to remain active during the quarter-end months:

Quarter Paydays in Quarter-end filing month
Quarter 1 January, February, March April
Quarter 2 April, May, June July
Quarter 3 July, August, September October
Quarter 4 October, November, December January (following the tax year)

When you request to end tax service during the quarter-end months shown above, the following will apply:

Wave will:

  • Pay the taxes due for the quarter you end tax service in
  • File the tax forms due for the quarter you end tax service in
  • Refund you for taxes that have been withdrawn, that will not be paid by Wave

Wave will not:

  • Pay the taxes that are due in the month after you end tax service

The quarter's tax forms will be available by the last week of the month they're due. You will receive an email to log into Wave and review/sign from Payroll > Tax Forms

Ending tax service outside of "Quarter-End" (January, April, July, October)

If you need to end tax service outside of quarter-end months (e.g. any month other than January, April, July or October), the following will apply:

Wave will:

  • Pay the tax liabilities due in the month you cancel
  • Refund you for taxes that have been withdrawn, that will not be paid by Wave

Wave will not:

  • Pay the liabilities due after the month you cancel
  • File quarter-end or year-end forms
  • Close your payroll tax accounts with the IRS or state agencies
