Complete your tax profile

If you complete your tax profile in the middle of a quarter, enter your payroll history. This ensures your tax tracking and payments are accurate.

The information in your tax profile allows Wave to calculate your portion of payroll tax liabilities and remind you when tax payments are coming due. Learn how to track your payroll tax liabilities and payments.

  1. On the left-side menu, click Payroll > Payroll Dashboard.
  2. In the Business section, to the right of Tax profile, click Add details. A pop-up will tell you what federal and state forms are needed to complete your profile.
  3. Click Okay, let’s go!
  4. Next to Federal, click Go.
  5. Enter your Federal Employer ID Number, or EIN, then click Next. An EIN is required if you have employees in the US. Learn how to apply for an EIN.
  6. Select the checkbox next to the appropriate answer of the remaining questions, then click Next.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Next to your state, click Go.
  9. Enter the tax details for your state. Click Continue after each section. If you do not have a tax identification number for any of the required taxes, click the checkbox next to I have applied for a tax number but have not yet received it to continue set up.
  10. Complete steps 8 and 9 for each state required for your business.

Completing your tax profile does not authorize tax payments and filings through Wave. You must authorize tax services separately.
