What to expect after the upload
If Wave requires a business verification document for your account, a banner will appear in Payroll to notify you. Upload the required document(s) so Wave can complete your payroll account review.
When your payroll is not yet active or approved, you will see the banner on the Payroll Setup page. If you are already running payroll, the banner will also appear on the Payroll dashboard.
How to upload your document in Wave
Wave may ask you to provide verification documents such as EIN verification, bank account verification, or state tax registration forms. The specific document(s) required will be shown on the secure upload screen.
To upload your document(s):
- On the left-side menu, select Payroll > Payroll Dashboard.
- Click Review Documents now on the banner to open the secure upload screen.
- Select the required document and click Finish.
- Repeat this process if you have multiple documents to submit. The banner will update once all verification documents are sent for review.
Understand your document status
A banner on the Payroll Setup page or your Payroll dashboard shows the status of your document request. If you have multiple requests, the banner displays the most urgent status.
- Action Required: We need a document. Take action now
- Under Review: You submitted the document(s). Our team is completing their review
- Review Failed: Your last submission was unsuccessful. Re-upload the document or contact support
What to expect after the upload
The review of your payroll verification documents starts once all required documents are uploaded and typically takes 1–2 business days from your most recent upload. Once you have uploaded all required documents, uploading additional documents resets the review timeline.
The Approve Payroll button becomes available once the review is completed and it is confirmed that you meet all requirements. You can only run payroll once the review is complete.
