Create a product or service with default settings like a price and name, so you can add them to invoices and bills. Once you add a saved product or service to an invoice or bill, you can make changes if required.

If you have a lot of products to add to Wave, you can use our Google Sheets add-on, Wave Connect, to import multiple products from a spreadsheet.

Create a product or service in your web browser

  1. Log in at waveapps.com.
  2. On the left side menu, click Sales & Payments > Products & Services.
  3. Click Add a product at the top right, then:
    1. Enter a name for the product or service.
    2. Enter an optional description. When you add the product to an invoice this description auto-populates.
    3. Enter the price. This is also optional, and can be overwritten on an invoice.
    4. If this is a product you sell, check the Sell this box, then select an income account, or click the + button to create a new income account.

      You must select this checkbox to be able to add the item to invoices.

    5. If this is a product you buy, check the Buy this box, then select an expense account, or click the + button to create a new expense account.

      You must select this checkbox to be able to add the item to bills.

    6. Select a sales tax if applicable.
  4. Click Save.

In the mobile app, you can only create items that will be sold. To create a product or service:

  1. Log in to the mobile app.
  2. On the bottom menu, tap Sales Products .
  3. If you’re adding your first item, tap Add a product or service, or tap the + icon at the top right.
    1. Enter an optional description. When you add the product to an invoice this description auto-populates.
    2. Enter the price. This is also optional, and can be overwritten on an invoice.
    3. Select a sales tax if applicable.
    4. Select an income account.
  4. Tap Save.
