Changes for Wave users outside the United States and Canada

If your business is based in the US or Canada, but you’re being redirected to Zoho books, it may be because you are currently outside the US or Canada. To resolve this, use a VPN to change your location to the US or Canada while travelling.

In November 2020, Wave announced a shift to focus exclusively on the US and Canada. As part of this decision, all product and customer support for users outside these countries was discontinued. This change aims to ensure that we deliver high-quality experiences by focusing our efforts on where we can best serve our customers.

New pricing model for US and Canadian users

Wave has recently introduced a new pricing model. This model is designed to:

    • Enhance our ability to reinvest in products
    • Address the evolving needs of small business owners

Due to these updates, users outside the US and Canada can no longer send invoices or reminders through Wave.

Understand if your business is affected

If your business is located outside the US and Canada, after logging in, users were shown a message about these updates and the changes are reflected in your account.

If your business operates within the US and Canada, you can continue to send invoices and reminders via Wave using our online payments feature or by subscribing to the Pro Plan.

Zoho Books for users outside the US and Canada

If you are located outside the US and Canada, consider switching to our trusted partner, Zoho Books. Zoho Books offers:

    • Payment processing capabilities
    • Customizable invoice options

Changes in invoice capabilities

Sending invoices or reminders through Wave is now part of the online payments feature or the paid Pro Plan.

You can still send invoices, estimates, and other documents through a PDF or link.

Status of existing Wave accounts

Since the update to focus on the US and Canada, existing users outside these countries have been able to continue using Wave. These users were informed that compliance could not be guaranteed outside the supported regions and were encouraged to switch to our partner Zoho Books.

    • Your existing Wave account will remain active, however, this may change in the future.
    • You can create unlimited invoices, estimates, and other documents, and customize them with your branding.
    • You can manually create bookkeeping records and access insights through your dashboard and reports.

Businesses with users added as of May 1, 2024, can continue to invite additional collaborators for free. Be aware that ongoing product updates may affect your experience.
