Before you start, ensure you've added your employees into Wave, making sure to include their salary information. Once you've added your employees, you're ready to fill in their timesheets.
For salaried employees
If your employee is compensated with a yearly salary, do not fill in their timesheet, unless you would like to record and pay your employee overtime, vacation, or sick time hours. Wave uses the salary you entered in your employee's profile to calculate their paycheck. Any hours you enter into the field for regular hours will be added over and above your salaried employee's regular pay.
To enter overtime, vacation, or sick pay:
- In the left-side menu, click Payroll > Timesheets.
- Select the dropdown arrow next to the employee you want to enter hours for.
- In the Overtime row, enter any overtime hours your employee worked that week which they will be compensated for.
Wave supports two types of overtime: time and a half, and double time. You can learn more about overtime pay requirements, and how each type is calculated in How to handle overtime.
- In the Vacation row, enter any paid vacation hours your employee used that week.
- In the Sick Time row, enter any paid sick time hours your employee used that week.
- For additional employees, repeat steps 2-5.
- Click Save.
You're done! Your salaried employee's timesheet is now up to date, and any overtime, vacation, and sick time hours will be reflected in your payroll.
For hourly employees
