Set up Wave to submit ROEs on your behalf

The ROE (record of employment) is a form that employers complete for employees receiving insurable earnings who stop working and experience an interruption of earnings. The ROE allows employees to apply for EI (employment insurance) benefits.

Wave can issue ROEs to the CRA on your behalf. In order to grant this access to Wave, we will require a completed ROE Web Client Consent Form (Form SC INS5238).

Prior to filling out the application, make sure to double check the following information:

  • CRA Payroll Number: found in Settings > Tax Profile
  • Legal Business Name: found in Settings > Business Profile
  • Postal Code: found in Settings > Business Profile

If everything matches, the CRA will approve Wave’s access right away!

To authorize the ROE Web Consent form in-app, you’ll navigate to Run Payroll, and you’ll find it in the Things to Do section.

If you’re just getting started, you’ll also find this option in the Setup Hub - titled ROE authorization. Click into Authorize and we’ll capture your digital signature.

It will take 3 to 4 weeks for Wave to process your application, you will receive a confirmation email from Wave when we’ve been granted access.

Once Wave is set up to submit ROEs on your behalf, you can kick back and let us handle them for you!

Please note that Wave is unable to submit ROEs on behalf of your business from the period of time before you started with Wave. You will have to ensure your prior payroll service provider can issue them up to the time that Wave takes over.
