Cancel your payroll subscription

You can cancel your payroll subscription at any time. When you cancel your payroll subscription, your automatic tax payments and filings end.

To understand what happens to your tax payments and filings when you cancel your payroll subscription, see [US] Ending tax payments and filings with Wave or Payroll tax services in Canada.

You still have access to payroll until the end of the month in which you cancel. Once you confirm your cancellation, you can only approve payrolls with a paydate that falls within the month you cancelled. If you're unable to cancel the subscription, you may have approved a payroll that has a payday in a future month. Follow the steps to cancel after the payday has passed.

At the end of the month, you will no longer have access to your payroll data. For your records, download your tax forms from Payroll > Tax forms and download your employee data.

Your final bill will be the month after you cancel your payroll subscription. This final bill is for the employee and independent contractor fees from your final month of service. Wave reminds you of this bill and the billing date when you cancel.

If your payroll subscription isn't on automatic renewal, you don't need to take any action to cancel it.

For businesses in Canada, if you’re switching to a different payroll provider, issue your ROEs before your Wave payroll subscription ends. Use Reason Code K17 Other/Change of Service Provider.
