To use Wave’s payroll feature after your free trial, you must have an active payroll subscription. You can complete your payroll profile setup without a subscription, but you cannot approve a payroll or receive automatic tax filings and payments.

You can enter your card details at any time during your payroll trial to ensure your subscription stays active after the 30-day trial period ends. You can also enter them any time after your trial has ended. Entering your details will not end the trial early. Wave will only begin billing your card once your free trial is complete.
Wave recommends entering your card details before your free trial ends to avoid any disruptions in your payroll tax filings.
You can use either a Visa or debit card to to pay for your payroll subscription. Wave recommends using a credit card, as some debit cards may not be supported.
To start your payroll subscription:
- Log in at waveapps.com.
- At the top right corner, click your business name, then Business settings.
- From the Settings menu, under the Payroll section, click Billing.
- Enter your card details.
- Click Save card.
At any time, you can pause your payroll with a limited-access subscription or cancel your subscription.
