Understand bank connections

Bank connections are available to businesses in the US and Canada. If your business is located in another region, learn how to upload bank or credit card statements.

Wave works with Plaid, a specialist provider of secure bank data connections, to offer the ability to connect your bank to Wave. Bank connections can be created to import transactions automatically from your bank accounts, fund your payroll, or accept payments from customers.

My bank connection isn’t working

Plaid maintains all bank connections. Disconnections or delays in transaction imports are outside of Wave’s control.

If your transaction imports have been disrupted, see Why is my bank unable to import transactions?

If your bank account has disconnected, see Reconnect your bank account to Wave.

Plaid cannot fix or investigate individual connection issues. Plaid’s team monitors connections and works to restore disruptions when they occur.

If you need help troubleshooting your connection status, open Mave, Wave’s automated chatbot, and type troubleshoot bank connection. Mave will help collect any relevant details and direct you to the appropriate support. Learn how to open Mave in Get support with Wave.

What can I do if my bank won't connect?

If Plaid does not support your bank, or you’re experiencing frequent disruptions, there are a few alternatives.

To import transactions, turn off automatic bank imports and upload a bank or credit card statement or use our Google Sheets integration, Wave Connect. Learn how to install and link Wave Connect to Google Sheets.

For payroll and payments, manually connect your bank account for payroll funding or online payments.
