If a customer wants to leave you a tip through Wave, they can overpay the total amount of their invoice.
To receive and bookkeep a tip:
- Create a new income account in your chart of accounts to represent your tips.
- Add a new product to sell and call it something like Tips. For the income account, select your new tips account.
- Create and send your invoice.
- Collect your payment. If your customer pays using Wave’s online payments feature, any overpayment amount will appear in brackets on the invoice. If they pay outside of Wave, record the total payment amount on the invoice.
- Manually calculate the tip amount.
- Edit the invoice to add Tips as a new line item. In the Price column, enter the calculated tip amount.
