If editing or removing the payment will affect a reconciled period, a warning pop-up will appear. Learn how to fix an unreconciled period.
If the invoice was paid through Wave’s online payments feature, the payment details cannot be edited. This is to maintain an accurate record of payment transactions.

Edit or delete a payment from the invoice
You can edit invoice payment details before and after the invoice has been manually recorded as paid. The created transaction on the Transactions page will update automatically.
To edit or delete a payment from an invoice:
- Open the Invoices page.
- Select the All invoices tab, then the invoice.
- Click on the invoice to view it.
- If in your web browser:
- Scroll down to the Manage payments section.
- To delete the payment, click Remove payment.

To edit, click Edit payment. Make your changes in the pop-up, then click Submit.
If the payment you need to edit is part of a split transaction or was created from a transaction on the Transactions page, you can only edit the payment method and memo from the invoice. To edit the date, amount or account, click Go to Accounting. You'll be taken to the transaction.
- If in the mobile app:
- Under the Payments section, tap the payment.
- At the top right, tap the three dots.
- To delete the payment, tap Delete payment.
- To edit, tap Edit, make your changes, then tap Save.
Edit a payment from the income transaction
You can edit the manually recorded payment from the income transaction linked to the invoice. To edit the date, amount and account, you must update them on the transaction directly.
To edit an invoice payment from the income transaction:
- Open the Transactions page.
- If in your web browser, click the dropdown arrow to the right of the transaction, then select Edit more details.
- If in the mobile app, tap the transaction.
- Edit the transaction, then select Save.
Once you select Save, the details on the invoice are updated automatically.
