Wave recommends that the business owner completes the Wave Payments setup, as the application requests confidential information, including verification of the business owner's identity.

  1. Log in to waveapps.com.
  2. On the left navigation menu, click Sales & Payments > Payments.
  3. Enter your business type.
  4. The business details page has both required and optional fields. Fill in the fields, ensuring to fill in all of the required ones, then click Save and continue.
  5. Enter your personal details, then click Save to continue.

Why do we ask for these details? To keep our services and our partners secure, and to combat fraud and money laundering, Wave is legally obligated to collect certain information about the businesses using our services. Information we collect includes details about your business and about you personally. This is industry-standard; all payment processors will require you to submit the same information.

  6. Enter your banking details so we can transfer money to you when your invoices have been paid. If you can't find your financial institution when searching, you can enter in your details manually. (If you don’t know where to find this information, Wave will show you.) Enter this information, then click Save and continue.

Entering your details manually is only an option for Wave Payroll and Wave Payments, and can’t be used to import transactions.

  7. Enter your business name again. This time, we need the version of your business name that will appear on your customer’s credit card statements. If your customers know you by something other than your legal business name (for example, your legal business name is “8675309 Inc.” but your customers know you as “Home Renos 4 U”), use the name they know. Click Save and continue.
  8. Wave will ask some questions to help verify your identity. These questions will vary depending on location. Answer the questions, then click Submit answers and continue.
  9. Next, Wave needs to verify your identity with a piece of government-issued identification. Click Start verification to begin this process.
  10. Choose the type of ID you are uploading. You can take a picture using your webcam, or upload an existing image of your ID. If you’re using a webcam, Wave will open your webcam and allow you to take a picture. If you’re uploading an existing image, click Choose file and find the document. Click Continue to begin the upload.

Once your identity has been verified, Wave reviews your application to get you approved and set up. If you need to provide more information, Wave will reach out via email.
