Charge a customer credit card

You can collect invoice payments using Wave in two ways: by sending an invoice for online payment or by manually charging your customer's credit card.

Good to know

        • International payments: You can accept invoice payments from credit cards issued outside your business's country. The cardholder's bank will complete payment in the invoice currency, and handle any currency conversion.
        • Bank payments: Your customer must make a bank payment after an invoice is sent. You cannot manually process a bank payment for them.

Once you've set up online payments, customers can pay directly through invoices using major credit cards, Apple Pay, and bank transfers. You can also customize which payment types you accept on invoices.

Charge a customer's credit card manually via web browser

To manually process a credit card payment when you have your customer's information:

        1. Log in: Access your account at waveapps.com
        2. Navigate: Click on Sales & Payments > Invoices in the left-side menu.
        3. Select invoice: Click on the invoice for which you want to process payment.
        4. Manage payments: Under Manage Payments, click Charge a credit card.
        5. Enter details: Input your customer's credit card information.
        6. Save card: To store the credit card for future payments, check the box next to Save this card for future payments.
        7. Submit payment: Click Submit Payment.

Charge a customer's credit card manually in the Wave mobile app

To manually process a credit card payment in the mobile app:

        1. Log in: Open the Wave mobile app.
        2. Access sales: Tap Sales on the bottom menu, then select Invoices.
        3. Select invoice: Tap on the invoice you wish to charge.
        4. Apply payment: Tap Apply payment.
        5. Edit amount: To change the amount, tap the Amount field, enter the new amount, and tap Update amount.
        6. Use a new card: If charging a new card, tap Charge a new card and enter the card details. To save this card, toggle Add to customer’s name’s cards to On.
        7. Select card: If the customer has multiple saved cards, tap the Card to charge field and select the card.
        8. Charge: Tap Charge $.
