Businesses that subscribe to Wave’s Pro Plan, accept online payments, or use payroll with direct deposit set up, can send payment receipts through Wave. Learn about Wave’s plans or how to set up online payments or payroll.
If the invoice has your customer’s email address, a receipt is automatically emailed to them when they make a payment through Wave. You can’t turn this setting off but you can customize the message on the receipt.
Before sending a payment receipt, make sure the payment is recorded on the invoice. The invoice can either be fully or partially paid. If you need to send a receipt before receiving a payment, follow the steps in Provide a customer receipt before payment is recorded.

- On the left-side menu, click Sales & Payments > Invoices.
- Select the invoice.
- In the Manage payments section, under the payment details, click Send a receipt.
- To send from an alternate verified email address, click on your email in the From field and select from the drop-down.
- Enter an email address if the customer’s profile doesn’t have a saved email.
- To add additional recipients, click the plus icon next to the To field.
- Edit the subject line and message if needed.
- To send a copy of the email to yourself, click the checkbox at the bottom.
- Click Send.

- On the bottom menu, tap Sales > Invoices.
- Select the invoice.
- If paid in full, tap Send receipt. If partially paid, tap the three dots in the top right corner, then tap Send receipt.
- If there are multiple payments on the invoice, select the payment from the list.
- Tap Send email via Wave.
- To send from an alternate verified email address, click on your email in the From field and choose from the list.
- Tap the To field. Enter an email address if the customer’s profile doesn’t have a saved email. To add another recipient, tap Add another recipient.
- Tap Done.
- Edit the subject line and message if needed.
- To send a copy to yourself, select the checkbox.
- Tap Send.
