This feature is for Pro Plan subscribers and businesses using Wave’s online payments feature.
Adding a deposit request to an estimate helps secure funds for your services before your business completes any work. Deposits can be paid using a credit card in your business currency.
You can only add one deposit request to each estimate.
If you convert an estimate to an invoice before receiving a deposit, the deposit request will not appear on the invoice.

Add a deposit request to an estimate on a web browser
To add a deposit request to an estimate on a web browser:
- Open an existing estimate, or create a new estimate.
- Under the estimate Total, click Request deposit.
- Enter the deposit amount as a dollar value or percentage. The deposit cannot be more than the estimate’s total.

To require a deposit payment, select the checkbox next to Require customer to pay deposit online before marking it as accepted.
You can only require a deposit if your business is actively using online payments.
- Click Save and continue to save your estimate draft.
- Click Approve draft to finalize the estimate.

To add a deposit request to an estimate on the mobile app:
- Open an existing estimate or create a new one.
- In the Amount total section, tap Request deposit.
- Select whether the deposit is a dollar amount or a percentage, then enter the deposit amount.

To require the deposit payment, select the checkbox next to Require customer to pay deposit online before marking it as accepted.
You can only require a deposit if your business is actively using online payments.
- Tap Done.
- Tap Save to save your estimate.
Your estimate will show there is now a deposit pending.
