Add a deposit request to an estimate

This feature is for Pro Plan subscribers and businesses using Wave’s online payments feature. It will be rolling out to businesses over the next few weeks.

Adding a deposit request on an estimate helps secure funds for your services before your business completes any work. Deposits can be paid using a credit card in your business currency.

You can only add one deposit request per estimate.

To add a deposit request to an estimate:

  1. Log in to your account at waveapps.com.
  2. Find and open your selected estimate, or create a new estimate.
  3. Under Total, click Add deposit request.
  4. Enter the deposit amount as a dollar value or percentage. The deposit cannot be more than the estimate’s total.
  5. To require a deposit payment, select the checkbox next to Require customer to pay deposit online before marking it as accepted.

You can only require a deposit if your business is actively using online payments.

  6. Click Save and continue to save your estimate draft.
  7. Click Approve draft to finalize the estimate.

If you convert an estimate to an invoice before receiving a deposit, the deposit request will not appear on the invoice.
