Record an invoice payment

If you use Wave's online payments feature, Wave takes care of the bookkeeping for you, and the invoice gets marked as paid as soon as the customer makes a payment.

To record a payment on an invoice:

        1. Log in to your Wave account at waveapps.com.
        2. On the left-side menu, click Sales & Payments > Invoices.
        3. Locate the invoice, and click Record payment.
        4. Fill in the details of the payment and add any Memo/notes if necessary.
        5. Click Submit. This will mark the invoice as paid and create an income transaction on the Transactions page.

You can mark an invoice as paid from an income transaction. Changes made to the income transaction will also be reflected on the invoice.

To mark an invoice as paid from a transaction:

        1. Log into your Wave account at waveapps.com.
        2. On the left-side menu, click Accounting > Transactions.
        3. Locate the imported income transaction associated with the invoice payment, or click Add income to create a transaction.
        4. In the Category drop-down, select Payment Received for an Invoice in Wave, then select the appropriate invoice.

Categorizing a payment transaction associated with an invoice and editing the payment details of an invoice are only possible in the web version of Wave.

        1. Log in to your account on the Wave mobile app.
        2. Tap Sales in the bottom menu, then tap Invoices in the submenu.
        3. Tap on the invoice you want to record a payment on.
        4. Tap Record payment and move through the prompts to record the details
        5. Tap Record as paid.
